Dear Friends in Christ,
It
is my privilege to write to you on behalf of the St. Thomas Aquinas
Society. This Society,
though young in number of years, has quite an impressive history in
fulfilling its mission of prayer
and education in our Catholic Faith. Truly, the love of its membership for
our Catholic Faith is clear
and inspiring.
The
St. Thomas Aquinas Society hears the call of the Pope John Paul II to be
the salt of the
earth and the light of the world. The Society keeps our salt of Faith
flavored and our lights of Faith
trimmed that truly we may see our Faith as the lamp to light our way.
The
Society takes to heart the prophetic call of our baptism and confirmation,
to listen to the
Word of God, to take it into our hearts and to live it and speak it
courageously in its fullness, in all
of its beauty and in all of its power. Their offerings nourish us with
teachings, with prayer, and with
Eucharistic celebrations.
What
is particularly pleasing to me is the Society’s love of the Eucharist
and their
commitment to having the Eucharist as the centerpiece of their gatherings.
The Eucharist is what
identifies us as Catholics.
You
will find in reviewing the history of St. Thomas Aquinas Society that
their ministry has
been and continues to be a great blessing to our diocese, to our city and
to all who participate in the
events they offer.
I
give my blessing to the Society and to all of you who support the Society
in prayer and in
any way you can.
